The lessons also took into account the child's age and ability. Lessons are very short (from 5 to 15 minutes) for 6 year olds but gradually increases to 45. Outdoor play was encouraged. Literary works are used instead of textbooks. For children 6 to 10, narration and oral answers allow the child to learn without the mechanical problems of writing. Art and music are integral to children's education.
